Carrying huge chunks of money is not advisable, no matter where you are traveling to. You are better off dealing with credit cards as they acceptable in most places. Even the little money you have on you needs to be handled with care. Do not leave it in your luggage. Carry it with you in your wallet, purse or bag but it has to be near you at all times. Where you are doing a lot of walking, a hidden waist belt is good enough, but be sure to avoid isolated pathways and streets where you can easily get mugged
